Just opposite East Putney underground station in London is this British/Italian-style bistro, which serves good quality food at very reasonable prices. I and three friends went in for lunch on a week day and had no difficulty in finding a table by the window. There was additional seating to the back had it been busier, and also outside which is good to know for next summer.
The lunchtime menu offers a range of thin crust pizzas, at a price several pounds less than one would expect to pay in London. The other main courses range from lamb burger and Thai curry through to the more expensive seared tuna and grilled fillet steak.
I opted for prawn cocktail with avocado, which was good as there were lots of prawns and pieces of avocado, and relatively little lettuce. In my experience it is often the other way around. The Thousand Island dressing was light and in just the right quantity to bring out the flavour of the prawns. It ended up being quite sufficient for a light lunch. Of the pizzas, the roast chicken with gorgonzola looked good.
We were there at lunchtime, which was unfortunate in that the contents of the bar could not be fully appreciated. On the positive side however, I noted there is a cocktail hour each evening which I think would give reason for a second visit.
