First Class Teas in Cambridge opened nearly a year ago, and is still a delight. On a Saturday morning trip there, a friend and I sampled both their teas and their cakes.
I had the Javan Malabar, a deeply flavourful darkly coloured tea, which went rather well with the rich and moist chocolate and almond cake. My drinking partner opted for the house’s Lapsang Souchong, and the rich pine smoke smell lingered in the air for our entire time there. He accompanied this with the organic carrot cake: sticky, with chunks of walnut and currants – near perfect.
One can either take a generous pot at the shop, or a large or small takeaway cup – all options offering great value for money. Personally, I much prefer to go to First Class Teas than any of the numerous chain coffee shops in Cambridge.
