Cod fillet with teriyaki


Nordsee is a German fast food restaurant chain, specialising in fish. I often buy fish sandwiches or sushi to go, but if you have time to stay, they will cook your fish in front of you, and you can choose chips, vegetables and salad. They also have a fish counter, and I recently bought some cod fillet and halibut to cook at home.

I got a 400g cod fillet, froze half and fried the other half for dinner. Having had a starter of salami and hams, I just had the fish by itself. It didn’t look much on the plate, but was quite dense and surprisingly filling. I drizzled teriyaki on top, which I think works very well with white fish.

To drink I had an excellent 2007 Nederburg sauvignon blanc from South Africa (13%). It was fruity and refreshing, and just like a sauvignon should be. At a mere 5 Euros a bottle, I plan to buy lots more.
