Strange lidded lemonade

I accompanied a friend to Strada, one of the more upmarket Italian restaurants in Cambridge. Whilst he ate his way through dinner, I snacked on olives, as I’d already eaten. These were, as usual, deliciously marinated and seasoned, with chopped herbs finishing them off beautifully. The green ones were massive, and firm, and the black ones quite mature-tasting and slightly more bitter. I drank with this a glass of their Montepulciano, which was very good.

My dining companion enjoyed a rather strange drink, or rather, quite a normal, if more tasty than usual, drink, with a strange container. It was a can of lemonade called Sanpellegrino La Limonata (lemonade) with a typically-shaped can, but with an extra foil seal over the top, like the ones you often find on yoghurt pots, under the plastic, re-sealable lid. It was Sicilian, so perhaps that’s standard practise out there. I suppose it’s more hygienic if you’re drinking from the can, but, of course, the drink was served with a glass of water and ice.
