Post-prandial exploration

explorer.jpgA few of us met up post-dinner for a bottle of wine at a relatively upmarket King’s Parade restaurant called The Chop House. The wine was called Explorer and was made from Pinot Noir. It was also from 2007 and Chilean. But its best feature was that it was a hefty 14%, making it a good bottle to share between the three of us. The wine was made by the Concha Y Toro vineyard and had massive blackcurrants on the nose. It was like Ribena, or Vimto. Apart from this full, ripe nose, the body was very fruity and nice and potent, the high alcohol level, as it often does, adding to the flavour. The tannins were very low, too, making it very smooth drinking. In the background, we listened to ‘La Vie en Rose’ being sung by Edith Piaf.
