Christmas Dinner One

Sorry, like Mike I had a problem logging in.  Now fixed. It was held on Christmas Eve, to spread the good cheer over several days. We had a magnificent starter, which I mostly prepared myself, including giant prawns, smoked salmon, leafy salad, lemon juice and an interesting chilli mayonnaise. Then the main course, which was, of course, turkey, with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, carrots, apple sauce, some deep-fried stuffing (which was a new variation for me) and various other bits and pieces. Dessert came later, and included a cheese course which was very satisfying to my tastes. The wine was mostly a New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from 2006 which I thought absolutely delicious. The company was fun, including the usual cracker-pulling and terribly bad joke-telling. We withdrew to the drawing room, as is customary, and sat around the open fire exchanging presents and occasionally enjoying a carol or two on the piano.
