Oysters at the Union

The Cambridge Union Society’s garden party is always good.  This year it was at Sidney Sussex College in the fellows’ garden.  There was a small marquee on one lawn, with a jazz band providing entertainment to students lounging on the grass.  As well as the sparkling wine there were glasses of Pimm’s and gin and tonic, and some rather good sandwiches of goat’s cheese and cucumber.  Then came the real surprise: oysters!  They were packed in tubs of ice, and Union personnel helpfully shelled them as guests lined up to sample them.  They proved very popular…
