Was it salt beef?

There is a suggestion from Mike that the “soft beef” I bought was in fact mislabelled “salt beef.”  It would make sense, in that it was salty as well as soft.  Whatever it was, it was nice enough to have again, so I will check to see what it is called next time.  I didn’t use all of it with that salad, so it became next day’s lunch. I served it in soft floury seeded rolls, split open and spread with light mayonnaise. Then came the beef, in quarter inch thick slices, on which I spread a little English mustard. I added shredded iceberg lettuce, Vittoria tomatoes, and finally a sprinkling of sea salt. It was quite a feat holding all the stuff in while I ate them, but they were worth the effort. And the beef was even better with mustard.
