On the spur of the moment, we decided dinner at our local Café Rouge (Bridge Street, Cambridge) would be entertaining. And we were right! The restaurant was packed, so the delivery speed wasn’t its usual fast pace, but everything arrived eventually and tasted as delicious as usual. I decided to have the duck, which came with dauphinoise potatoes and green beans, all in a delicious dark orange sauce (see the photo top).
My dining companion ate and reportedly enjoyed the quiche, which contained bacon, gruyere and onion and came with a potato salad (see the photo above). But before we each had these, we enjoyed together the ‘assiette campagnarde’ which was a sharing platter full of delicious morsels like saucisson and serrano ham, alongside camembert, roquefort, chicken liver parfait and gherkins. Really quite magnificent!
