El Templete in Havana

squidink

I’m visiting Havana in Cuba and finding it reassuringly cigar-friendly.  I eat out at places recommended by locals, reckoning I’ll get better food than at obviously touristy places.  At El Templete my dining companion and I decided to share a main course as a srtarter, because the squid cooked in its black ink sounded so tempting.  It was brilliant, with the sauce tasting slightly sweet, and with the squid itself very tender.

tunacrust

For my main course I chose tuna done in a herb crust, cooked medium rare, with crystallized tomatoes and sliced potatoes.  The tuna was very good, with a chewy texture, and its herb crust was superb.  The tomatoes and potatoes were just fright, too.  An excellent meal enjoyed with a Chilean white.
