Lunch at d’Arry’s

I usually think of d’Arry’s in Cambridge’s King Street art a place for dinner, but they do a thriving trade at lunch, too. I went for the vegetarian dish of the day. It consisted of a goat’s cheese and pecan parfait, looking for all the world like a big scoop of ice cream. It came with balsamic jelly, couscous, parsnip fritters, cress and vine tomatoes. It looked very pretty, as can be seen in the photo. It was indeed delicious, especially the balsamic jelly, which I’d not met before. The cheese parfait was too rich to eat all by itself, so I ordered some bread to eat with it.

This was a very tasty lunch, enhanced by the wine I ordered, Saam Mountain cabernet sauvignon from South Africa, at 14.5 percent and tasting of blueberries, blackcurrants and plums. Delicious.
