Franschhoek

All of the wines were half price, so we tried something new. It was a 2009 Franschhoek Cellar Statue de Femme sauvignon blanc. It’s a South African wine made in the region whose name it bears, famed for some of the Cape’s most stunning scenery. It comes across with tastes of pear and citrus, as well as tropical fruits, and is 13 percent alcohol. It has a good finish, too. I saw in some tasting notes that it was described as having “elegance and finesse,” and I’m inclined to agree. It’s cool, clean and crisp, and would go perfectly with white fish
