Rectangular Fish

The Sanctuary Pub in Westminster near St James’s Park station is a fairly standard watering hole. I made the mistake of ordering food.

When the fish and chips turned up and was rectangular alarm bells shoulda gone off.

The chips were pretty average and the salad was a waste of resources – I certainly wasn’t going to eat it and it didn’t even look pretty.

To me rectangular fish indicates many bad things, firstly that it’s very cheap probably reconstituted white fish matter. Secondly, that it’s a cheap version of a cheap product because they have made no attempt to give it an “authentic fish shape”.

The message I received on my plate was very clear: “have your rectangular piece of fish and don’t come back”.
