My Alter Ego
I have coveted this wine from afar for years. It’s golden label is somehow not naff. It’s pedegree is exceptional and yet it’s a wine technically within my ability to pay.
At Berry Bros it’s £50 a bottle. Sainsburys apparently sells it for £44 and it was there today that I saw it reduced to £29.99. No small price for me – but I wasn’t buying a wine but a dream. Oft had I wondered and now I could discover the secrets it contained.
I’m off to the USA soon for three months (Washington, DC) and I excused myself this purchase as a leaving present from me to me.
The nose is exceptional. Berries (couldn’t pinpoint which). The aroma reminded me of the film Anchorman when he’s saying his apartment smells of rich things like mahogany, leather and books. It smelt sumptuous.
The taste was smooth. So smooth. 13% alcohol washed down Into the digestive system like milk of magnesia. Manna from heaven. Gilding the tonsils and gliding into the beyod.
I achieved a goal today.
