Chateau La Plaige 2005

LaPlaige

I rarely buy French wines except when I am in France.  This bottle of Chateau La Plaige 2005 Bordeaux Superieur I was given. It was a lovely surprise, in that it’s quite a powerful wine.  It has a deep red colour, and is made from 40 percent merlot, 35 percent cabernet sauvignon, and 25 percent cabernet franc, rather like a pomerol.  The characteristic tastes that hit you are blackcurrant and plum, with some strawberry, and spice at the end.  It is silky smooth and with a terrific finish.  And it’s quite inexpensive, too.
