For the Ask-ing

It wasn’t the most pleasant of evenings – cold and damp, as these evenings tend to get – and we’d headed for a warming supper at Ask. I’d enjoyed a spicy meaty calzone and my friend had tucked into rigatoni e polpette; both went well with the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo.

I had room for a little more, however, and my eye was caught by the specials board – a pear and frangipane tart, in particular. It was rather good – soft and goey inside, slightly warm, and with rich vanilla ice cream alongside. Just what the evening called for!
