La Scala **
A friend of mine who reads (and sometimes contributes) to this blog took me for dinner. He noted I had been to a lot of Italian restaurants recently, so we could try a new one – La Scala. Bocca di Lupo was my first choice, but was full, even on a Sunday night. La Scala was nearby and well rated on Opentable at 4.2 from 161 reviews.
The food was ok. Whilst my pasta was quite pleasant, the squid in my starter was rubbery and chewy. The lamb was so-so.
They had recently lost their drinks license, which enabled us to save on the wine by rushing to the off license, but it didn’t do much for our opinion of the place. It was rather empty too, seeming to primarily attract tourists. All in all, it wasn’t La Scala’s night.
